Description:

Canon has developed a new optional accessory called the High Power Flash HF-DC1. The flash is a supplementary unit that operates wirelessly and increases the effective flash range up to approximately 30 feet. The HF-DC1 flash is supplied with a mounting bracket so it can be attached to the camera, but it can also be hand-held or mounted on a tripod or accessory light stand to adjust the lighting angle for pro-like quality results. Multiple HF-DC1 units can be synchronized with a single camera for even greater lighting flexibility. This smart high-powered slave flash unit is compact and compatible with almost every PowerShot digital camera.

Canon HF-DC1 High Power Wireless Flash for Powershot

Strengths: Compact, lightweight, easy to hold when connected to the camera. Highly compatible with most Canon Powershots.

Weakness: Does not eliminate the shadow that the PowerShot wide angle lens creates. A little pricey at regular price.

I was able to buy this flash at a pretty good discount. As the retail price was $99. I don't really think it's worth that much but if you can get it at a discounted price it might be worth it. When I opened the box, it was pretty easy to setup in conjunction with my Powershot camera. It was just a couple screws and that's it. I was amazed at how much light this would shoot out in the dark. Flash Hf Dc1-Canon flash unit

Strengths: powerful

Weakness: none

It's compact & takes up little space in my Logic camera bag. I'm using using it on a Canon A-80. my wife borrows it periodically for her SD 400 Canon unit.

I'm very pleased with the unit

Canon High Power Flash HF-DC1

Strengths: Compact and lightweight.

Weakness: Range has limitation.

This is a neat complement to my Power Shot S80. With the built-in flash, the images are dark beyond 12 to 15-foot range. By attaching the HF-DC1 I am able to double the range of the flash zone. I highly recommend this attachment if you want to eliminate dark images when taking group pictures.

Canon High Power Flash Review

Strengths: compact size, strong flash, and camera attachment

Weakness: None at this time

HF-DC1 High Power Wireless Flash for Canon Powershot digital camera can be user for almost any camera where extra flash is needed. I was surprise for the size the power of the flash. With the easy attachable component I will use it for my other camera and my video camera that can take still pictures. I am please with the device.
