Sony HX5V Makes a Fine Pocket Camera
Strengths: I love the sweep panorama. In fact, that is the main reason I got it. Controls are easy to learn. The movies are sharp andl colorful. lt has exposure bracketing.
Weakness: The exposure bracketing is only one EV step in each direction. No zoom with the sweep panorama.
I wanted a pocket size camera that is easy to carry at all times but that had almost as much capability as my larger Canon. The Sony HX5V fills this need very nicely. It mostly lives in my shirt pocket when I am away from home. It would be nice if the exposure bracketing had greater variation but for most HDR images is works reasonably well. THE GOOD: Speedy shooting performance; compact, lightweight design; plenty of fun, useful features; very good low-light photo quality for a compact camera. THE BAD: Soft photos, videos; limited manual controls; GPS cant quickly be powered on and off.
